Since February 2015, the Educational Effectiveness Committee (previously known as the Forum on Institutional Effectiveness) meets regularly throughout the academic year to discuss and share information about Syracuse University’s continuous improvement efforts. The committee is comprised of school/college representatives and representatives from campus partners, including the Center for Student Excellence, Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence, Information Technology Services, Student Experience, SU Global, and Syracuse Abroad.
Responsibilities of the EEC
The Educational Effectiveness Committee:
- provides a collaborative forum to strengthen Syracuse University’s assessment and institutional effectiveness initiatives;
- promotes the use of assessment to improve teaching, learning, and related processes on our campus;
- uses data and evidence to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement, facilitate discussion, and inform actions that advance University priorities and enhance the student experience;
- advises the University, its faculty, and administrative leaders on assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement initiatives, including:
- internal and external reporting;
- setting standards for establishing, assessing, and using student learning and success outcomes to inform action and continuous improvement across the University’s programs and units; and
- interpreting Middle States accreditation standards and policies.
