Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment (IEA) aims to enrich student learning and the student experience through a holistic assessment framework in three domains: academic programs, co-curricular programs and units, and functional areas. IEA supports the systematic assessment of Syracuse University’s programs and services through consultations, workshops, documentation tools, and other resources. With a goal of continual reflection, the Assessment Working Team collaborates with faculty, staff and administrators as they develop and implement assessment and action plans for their respective areas. As part of this effort, IEA utilizes the six-stage transparency framework developed by the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment (NILOA).
Additionally, IEA is involved with other processes that fall under the institutional effectiveness umbrella, including:
- Strategic planning facilitation
- Program review coordination
- Accreditation support for both the University’s Middle States Commission on Higher Education accreditation and specialized accreditation efforts on campus.
