Course Tagging Progress

Academic departments have been actively tagging their courses with the Shared Competencies to show students how course content aligns with the university-wide learning goals. In December 2022, the University Senate supported the approved tags in a vote and students will be able to search for courses by competency to schedule classes starting in fall 2023. Course tags will also be published in the 2023-24 course catalog. Below is a figure showing the distribution of course tags submitted by competency for the initial round of tagging which ended on September 1, 2022.

To view a list and search for courses with approved tags, go to the Course Tag Search Tool. You are able to filter by school/college, department, or any of the Shared Competencies. Use the search field to locate a specific course.

The next course tagging deadline is May 31, 2023 for the 2024-25 registration process and catalog year. Faculty still working on course tagging can submit reflections via the course tag reflection form.
